A frequent question in e-mails is "Which kind of skis do you use". So here is a significant picture:
We decided to use the "Fischer E-99 Mountain Crown" skis. The decision was easy. We live in the central part of Germany, and we rarely have snow for more than two weeks in a year. Consequently, it is not easy to find a shop where you can buy skis for such tours. The E-99 was the only appropriate ski that we could get, and we are pleased with it. I has scales and needs no wax, so we don't have to care for that. We have old "Normal Nordic" bindings mounted on them, so we don't need extra shoes when we go on prepared tracks with our ordinary skis. It is surely a compromise, but so far it worked.
