I am not an expert, and tastes differ. So I will not try to convince you that you should like the same music that I do. I just describe what I did when I was on Kaua'i. While Carola was attending conferences, I looked for book stores, as I do everytime in foreign countries. My search ended at "Borders Books & Music" in the Kukui Grove Shopping Center west of Lihue, as they had everything I was looking for. (You probably can find other interesting bookstores, too, for instance in Kapa'a, but I did not try them). I checked lots of books as well as a great selection of CDs. I spent a lot of time hearing CDs with earphones in the shop, until I had heard enough to know what I would buy. I returned home with cooking books, hiking books and CDs. I bought two CDs of Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, "E Ala e" and "N Dis Life". He is a very famous artist on Hawai'i and I listened to his songs about Kaua'i, Sumo ringers and Hawaiian history rather frequently at home now, and every time I liked them better. It was a bereavement that he died in June 26, 1997. I bought two samplers, "Pick a Hit - Hawaii" and "Friends who rode the waves". Especially "Pick a Hit" has a good selection of popular music of Hawai'i. In the Internet, I found two sites about these artists: Link: Remembering
